Preparing Content: by James Jett

Yesterday and today I have been taking pictures and reading the information I have received to date. The information about the cold War and the Certificate, I received, proved to be interesting. And , also the letter, Medal and Ribbon from the President of South Korea. Non- veterans can qualify for the Cold War Certificate. The Cold War Medal and Ribbon have not been approved by DOD. I hope it will be soon.
I will get started posting the pictures and information tomorrow, hopefully I will be pass this Blogger learning carve.

Restoring Military Records: By James Jett

Since I work on restoring my Military Records almost daily, I will post all the information I use to get my records as hold as possible. I will upload copies of applications or post the Web address. As I receive Medals, Ribbons, Badges and Certificates I will record the qualifications required and where to apply for each item.

Yes, I am aware it will take some Bloging skills to accomplish the above tasks that is why I am studying the procedures an hour per day. Add this time to the hours I work rebuilding my wife's computer, half the day is gone.

Home and Family: By James Jett

This is the second reason I am writing a Blog, the value of the home you live in and the value it bring in life's benefits. Benefits like a place to live where peace and safety prevail. I am using the property where I live because I am going to post before and after pictures of the part that require drastic changes. Changes made for both our safety, health and improvement in the ambience. About thirty years ago the city of Wickliffe became a bird sanctuary, and my family enjoyed watching the birds as they visited the yard for food, water and nesting. To enhance this enjoyment we put a lot of effort in making the bird's feel at home in the yard. Now part of the yard is overgrown with trees and scrubs. It has become a place where Raccoon, Groundhog and many other Forest animals make them a home. Because of the disease that infested the raccoons in this area I started to clean out the brushes and cut down the trees for firewood. I will post the before pictures in the next couple of weeks and the after pictures as I make the necessary improvements

Korean War: By James Jett

Fifty-six years ago, I served in the Korean War, In August 1953 I received an Honorable Discharge. Just glad to be back in the States and home with the family. I did not worry about my records, medals, ribbons or badges. Aware that I had my Form DD214 in hand, I returned too civilian life and got married.

Last year when I had a need to contact the VA about health benefits and learn the procecures for applying for my Ribbons, Medals and Badges, I learn that in 1976 my records was destroyed by fire. Not a single sheet left about my time in the Army. Iwas told to send any and every thing I had about my stay in the Army to aid in replacing some of the history about my serve.

I became aware that many veterans will encounter the same problems if and when they need to apply for benefits. Usually, without your DD 214, no service or a long delay. So this is the number one reason I write this Blog.
